Overall Rating: 3.5 stars, Length: over 2 hours, 17 hunts, $11.99 at Scheels Our rating is based on 4 stars with 4 being the best and is simply our opinion of the video. This is a pretty good Primos video as it includes both elk and deer bowhunting. Will Primos does an outstanding job of describing the essence of deer and elk hunting in my opinion. His appreciation of what God has created for all of us is perfect. Whether your in the mountains of Wyoming or the swamp lands of Mississippi, the same holds true. It is a privilege to be able to hunt the deer and the elk. The Montana deer hunts have really lost their fizzle for me. The deer are small and look overhunted. That is exactly what I fear will happen if nonresident licenses go unlimited in Iowa. It would be a very bad decisions by our legislators and the DNR. The elk hunting is always awesome with the Primos crew. They really know how to get it done. Will Primos is why I am giving this video 3.5 stars. He truly captured the spirit of the outdoors for me in just a few simple paragraphs. Thanks Will, that is what P.I. is all about for me.
100% Wild Fair-Chase Volume 10 of 10 Overall Rating: 2.5 stars, Length: over 2 hours, 25+ hunts, $11.99 at Scheels Our rating is based on 4 stars with 4 being the best and is simply our opinion of the video. The "End is Just the Beginning" is the title of this Drury Outdoors video. Mark Drury harvests a huge 194" nontypical. Others on the video harvest some very big whitetails as well. The Drury videos are really starting to loose their appeal for me as they show so many food plot hunts that most people I know don't have the opportunity to hunt. Most of us have farm fields of corn and soybeans to hunt but we don't typically have Biologic, Whitetail Institute, Antler King or similar food plots. As I have said before, I just skip through most of the gun hunting. There are also some hunters that I skip over too. They just don't seem very interesting when watching them on the DVD. The same formula has been used by the Drury's now for a while. It is really getting old in my opinion.
Overall Rating: 2.5 stars, Length: 259 minutes, 25+ hunts, $11.99 at Scheels Our rating is based on 4 stars with 4 being the best and is simply our opinion of the video. Ralph and Vicki may be America's Favorite Hunting Couple but I found myself fast-forwarding or skipping to the next hunt quite a bit in this video. They do a good job of entertaining but it becomes almost annoying after a while. I fast-forwarded through their "talking head" hunt-segment setup for the most part. The gun hunts were really boring to me. I didn't watch any of them. The quality of the video was very good. Ralph and Vicki are very likeable. Their favorite places are still being hunted like Double B Outfitters in North Dakota. They are still trying to bring us all together no matter what equipment we choose. For the most part this is a good video. They use Hoyt equipment which this bowhunter prefers. The video just lacks some thunder. There is some decent Iowa hunting on the video. There some misses and some good Blooper material because of the misses. Now I like that. It was funny. We all know how "shtuff" happens and it did to a couple unlucky hunters. I wish they would have some archery tips or bow care tips. I would like to see short tidbits like that between hunt segments.
Overall Rating: 4 stars, Length: 302 minutes, 37 hunts, $14.99 at Bass Pro Shop Our rating is based on 4 stars with 4 being the best and is simply our opinion of the video. This is by far my favorite video for 2010. This team just continues to impress with video quality and the size of the deer harvested. Don and Kandi Kisky are the 'glue' of the Freaks Team but the most entertaining for me is Birdsong and Bosaw. Their southern, redneck slang, yet courteous demeanor make them very likable and entertaining. I also have to cheer for my local favorite Ken Haas. He definitely knows how to close the deal on big Iowa and Nebraska whitetails. Jeremy Putnam has an unbelievable season harvesting 4 big whitetails. I think he said they were all taken in Iowa. I'm not sure how you get 4 buck tags in Iowa. It could have been my misunderstanding. The DVD case claims over 5600" inches of antler. I believe it. The one thing that is missing from this video that was part of past videos was the buck's score when doing the recovery and hero part. I miss that. The Freaks crew hunt from Montana to Kentucky and all parts in between. It is produced in conjunction with Bill Jordan's Realtree. We all know they produce high quality videos. As a bowhunter, I continue to fast forward through the gun hunts over foodplots as there isn't much excitement in the hunts for me. However, I still recommend this as a must purchase for any bowhunter.
Overall Rating: 3.5 stars, Length: 150 minutes, 20 bowhunts, $14.99 at Cabela's Our rating is based on 4 stars with 4 being the best and is simply our opinion of the video. The video is actually put together in association with Drury Outdoors. This DVD was one of the best Wild Outdoors videos I have purchased. The Wild Outdoors team are very down to earth like this small town guy. Jay and Tammi Gregory close out the video by harvesting two bucks of a lifetime in Kansas on the Diamond Springs Ranch...on the same evening hunt. I'm not sure why Greg didn't let Tammi shoot the big drop tine buck but her wide buck was absolutely awesome. It was interesting to see Jay miss not only once, not only twice but three different shots in the video. We are all human and that is just part of hunting. There is more and more ground hunting from blinds in this and the other videos. It makes a hunter much more mobile. For you bowhunters I recommend this as a must purchase.
Realtree Monster Bucks XVIII, Volume 2 Overall Rating: 4 stars, Length: over 2 hours, 26 hunts, $12.99 at Scheels Our rating is based on 4 stars with 4 being the best and is simply our opinion of the video. This DVD was very good with many large bucks harvested and quite a few quality bowhunts. David Blanton has always impressed me as a quality individual. He demonstrates his high moral character in each DVD. The DVD includes many of the 'big names' in the hunting industry. What would a Monster Bucks video be without Waddell, Mundt and T-Bone? It would be boring, that's what it would be. Wouldn't it be fun to go on a hunt with those guys and have a chance at a buck of a lifetime? It doesn't hurt things in my mind that they have made Hoyt their archery tackle of choice. This video is definitely worth the money in both quality and big bucks.
Realtree Monster Bucks XVIII, Volume 1 Overall Rating: 3-1/2 stars, Length: 2 hours, 25 hunts, $12.99 at Scheels Our rating is based on 4 stars with 4 being the best and is simply our opinion of the video. The Realtree crew is good. I'm sure they have the best equipment money can buy with rednecks like us running this high dollar equipment. This video had plenty of bow hunts. The archery tournament between hunts is pretty funny. I thought I was a bad shot. C'mon David, I know you're better than that. There is a lot of food plot hunting in this video but all-in-all the video is very good, with plenty of hunting and plenty of humor. It is worth the money.
Overall Rating: 2-1/2 stars, Length: 3-1/2 hrs, 26 hunts, $9.99 at Scheels Our rating is based on 4 stars with 4 being the best and is simply our opinion of the video. The Primetime crew as always did a good job but this video didn't quite have the luster compared to some of their recent productions. I'm not sure about you but when a rifle or gun hunt comes up I typically just skip to the next hunt. I guess that is the bowhunter in me. There were plenty of gun hunts on this video. Some of the whitetails looked too small to be harvesting. I assume they have a goal of 130 or so before they decide to shoot. The Primetime videos typically will have bowhunting in the beginning, gun hunts in the middle and then some of their better bowhunts at the end. I kind of like this because it eliminates the chronology you see on many videos (i.e. from beginning of the season to the end of the season). It's nice to see the professionals miss once in a while. We all know that is part of the sport. It's just tough to watch the miss on a 200 class Iowa monster AND a 160 class Iowa monster! One of the best parts of this DVD was the outtakes.
Overall Rating: 3 stars, Length: 2 hrs 29 min, $14.99 at Cabela's Our rating is based on 4 stars with 4 being the best and is simply our opinion of the video.
Mark and Terry Drury's Dream Season 13 hit the stores last week. As always the quality of the video is excellent. There are some huge whitetails harvested but all viewers should expect huge whitetails out of the Drury Outdoors hunters. Their job and way of life is developing land for hunting whitetails. This viewer expects them to shoot a Booner every year. As with Whitetail Madness 13 if you like watching whitetails walking out into food plots and then being harvested, this video is for you.
There was a lot more bowhunting in this video than in Whitetail Madness 13 (at least that was my perception). The hunts were well done for the most part.
The quality of this DVD is what we have come to expect from the Drury crew.

Mark and Terry Drury's Whitetail Madness 13 hit the stores last week. As always the quality of the video is excellent but the rapid and constant changing of scenes at times can cause a viewer to become annoyed. This DVD appeared different to this bowhunter from their past videos. There appeared to be more gun hunting. As always there are some huge whitetails harvested but all viewers should expect huge whitetails out of the Drury Outdoors hunters. Their job and way of life is developing land for hunting whitetails. This viewer expects them to shoot a Booner every year. That is their job. If you like watching whitetails walking out into food plots and then being harvested, this video is for you. There was a lot of food plot harvests.
If your a Cub's fan, the Cardinals references get old. Baseball player appearances include Kyle McClellan and Jim Thome. Country western singer Gary Levox also takes a decent whitetail. For some reason I've always liked watching Gary Levox and his hunting video appearances. His music is pretty good too.
I buy a lot of DVDs every year and watch many of them multiple times. In my opinion this one is below average for the Drury crew and average compared to the rest of the hunting industry. It might be over priced at $14.99.
There is still something that appears to be very unusual (i.e. fishy) regarding compliance with Iowa's residency law in this video. It always sounds like they are traveling to Iowa from Missouri (even in the beginning of the season) and yet they harvest up to 3 bucks (in various videos) as only land owning Iowa residents can do.
